The Tokenization of Gold

The Tokenization of Gold

The Blockchain technology enables tokenization of gold. Investors consider precious metals and cryptocurrencies as substitutes, as the value of both asset classes depends on the level of faith in the national fiat currencies. However, a few cryptocurrencies backed by gold exist, potentially creating financial ecosystems. (a complete list of gold-backed cryptocurrencies is here). The main…

Could 3D printing help tackle poverty and plastic waste?

There are an estimated 15 million people globally who currently make their living from waste picking and many earn less than a dollar a day. Sun Exchange allows long-term direct investment in Solar Energy using Bitcoin

A South African blockchain startup called Sun Exchange has successfully raised US$1.6 million in seed capital for their new investment platform, which aims to provide solar power for the developing world by enabling global investments through bitcoin.Initially launched in 2015 through crowdfunding, Sun Exchange is using blockchain technology to circumvent the chief barrier to affordable solar power, which is the initial financial cost. The company is enabling investors to purchase solar panels using bitcoin, among other currencies, which can then be rented to projects. The investors earn income as the solar panels they purchase produce power, and the company pays investors using bitcoin. Sun Exchange markets the solar panels for as little as $8 per unit, making the purchase extremely affordable.

The reason for not investing is based upon two major factors.

Why bankers only see horses and technologists are creating cars

Why bankers only see horses and technologists are creating cars

I was at a large bank’s wealth management conference recently, where the CEO was being quizzed about various areas including a lot about technology and FinTech. He made several statements that I noted with interest:“Roboadvisory services improves our speed-to-market and human productivity, but does not replace humans. In particular, I can see that artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning makes it far easier for us to comply with and implement regulations and deal with regulatory change in the back office.”
